Spirit Creek Review #2 and a song for you all |
Spirit Creek show - June 7th 2002 @ The Rave
It’s always a great joy for me to see Spirit Creek. They are truly a group of great musicians and great guys. With 4 other bands on the bill, I thought it was gonna be agonizing. Boy was I wrong. The first band to play was a band from Milwaukee called Eighty-D, a 4-piece punk rock unit. At times they sound kinda poppy, but they are still a great band. Good leads, awesome drumming, and a pretty good singer. After they went off stage, I bought their CD. It was well worth the 4 dollars. The next band to play was the Chicago based 5 some Life Without. Quite possibly the second best band on the bill, they were a straight up metal act. They had energy, they had riffs, and they had my nieces attention, which is a surprise considering the bulk of her musical repetoir is rap and R&B. After that, “Suite 13” hit the stage. They are a pretty damn good band. Very tight, you can tell they practice constantly. The bass was literally shaking the floors. The best thing about them, is that they sound almost identical to what they sound like on the record when they play live. Then it was time for Spirit Creek to hit the stage. When their roadie put out the set list on the stage, I became disappointed yet happy at the same time. Only 4 of the songs were songs that I really knew. The rest of the songs were new material. It was awesome to hear some new tunes from Spirit Creek; all of them were quite touching. Stand out songs include “What’s Wrong With Me?” and “Strong Inside”. The “last” song they played was called “Difficult to Bare”. I had asked Doug previously if he could play the song “Spirit Creek”, and he said he would if the crowd chanted for an encore. So the second they were done I started chanting. Seconds later Doug came back “Fair enough, we will do another song”. They went into “Spirit Creek”. While he was into a part of the song, Doug unplugged his guitar from his pedal. So while he was singing, he was rewiring shit. It was pretty funny, and he pulled it off so well. Then later he jumped in to early on a part so he just kinda goofed is way through the rest of the song. After that, the crowd went ballistic. So Doug asked if they wanted another song, and of course they did.
Spirit Creek finished up by playing 2 “old school” songs, my favorite one being Birthrite.
After the show we all talked a little and I had all of the band members sign the coat I had brought to the show. So that’s it, the show was amazing, go and see Spirit Creek at Summerfest on the 29th.
This was written Saturday the 8th. It was inspired by events that transpired at the show...
My Love
To See You
Was All I ever needed
needed to be happy
Being With You
Was all I ever
Ever wanted.
The Eyes
Made just
just for me, me to see
You were my
life, my passion
my love...
But all that has changed...
My Love
You Forgot me
My Love
Not anymore
My Love
You reject me
My Love
Oh My Love
I hate you
All the action
all around us
you couldnt help yourself
I blamed myself
for letting you do
do what you did
But then I
I saw it again
and its there forever
You didnt
didnt care about me
but just know that
I'll forgive, but Ill never forget..............
My Love
You Forgot me
My Love
Not anymore
My Love
You reject me
My Love
Oh My Love
I hate you
You want to
"Want to Know Whats
Wrong With Me"
I know yours
you arent
arent "Strong Inside"
I know this
this may be
"Difficult To Bear"
But now
now I just
just wish you were
"A Million Miles Away"
My Love
You Forgot me
My Love
Not anymore
My Love
You reject me
My Love
Oh My Love
I hate you
"And Together"
Together is something
we'll never be
again...
