Megadeth concert review |
Oct 3, 2001 @ The Rave, Milwauke, WI. Megadeth w / Endo
This was quite possibly one of the greatest experiences in my life.
I got to see one of the world's most solid metal bands, Megadeth. With
a frontman that has a shrill voice and an even shriller guitar, Megadeth
is one of the best metal bands left. I got to the venue about 2 hrs.
before I was supposed to. I had to take a bus and I didn't know how long
it would take. When I got there I was suprised to see there were people
there before me. A great group of people, one of the guys bought me a
t-shirt after I gave him the money and held his spot for him. We finally got
into the venue at 7:30!!! We had to rush into the place to get a decent
spot. After that it was all about the wait. Endo went on late (assholes)
and they weren't even worth it. I mean, they put on an amazing show
with 100% energy, but God help them their music was shitty. They got middle
fingers and a "Meg-a-deth" chant almost the whole time. There were only
2 really memorable things that happened during their set. The first was
the body language of the lead singer, he was all over the fucking place.
It looked like he was power vogueing. The other more humorous part was
one time that I looked away and back at the singer, he had a thick white
substance on his cheek, you can imagine what was said after that......
Then came the moment we had all been waiting for..... The intro sounded
and the band dove head first into a few of their many new tracks "Kill the
King", and "Motopsycho". The crowd was going bezerk. All heads were banging
just as they have been for the band since 1984. I myself was banging as hard
and as fast as I could. One of the best things about this gig was tha
Dave was very vocal about the situation in Afghanistan......
"Ok hold on I wanna say something, this isn't an Afghan thing, this is
a fucking terrorist thing. Imagine you live in Afghanistan. You are in
your little Afghan bed and you hear a knock on your little Afghan door.
And you open your little Afghan door and you see this
(The crowd went nuts). But just before he has a chance
to say anything you hear "Hello me, meet the real me."
Then the crowd went ballistic as he launched into "Sweating Bullets." Then
Megadeth went WAY back in their histroy and did "Hook In Mouth" and
"Rust In Peace...Polaris." All in all it was the second best concert I
had ever been to. Whats the first you ask? MetallicA 1/3/00. But that's
another story.
Heres the full set-list in alomost perfect order....
