Is it OK to be mad at God? |
Who would have thought that a best selling book could be so confusing..
No I'm not talking about Poe, Tolstoy, or even Hemmingway, I'm talking
about the bible. Yes its the best selling book of all time. And yes
its entirely too confusing. Anyone who says otherwise, is either a liar
or a lot more intelligent that I am. This all started when I was
searching for my own answers about God. I have some anger towards my
creator for some things, and I wanted to know if I was wrong for feeling
this way. Since I dont have regular access to a pastor, I went to a
Christian Chat Room on yahoo. BIG MISTAKE! 99% of the answers that I got
we're "Yes you are very wrong for feeling that way, its not God's fault"
I did get 1 person who said it was not wrong to be angry at God. So I
struck up a conversation. I then got on to telling him what I believe.
One of them was that I believe that sex before marriage is ok as long as
it is done out of love. I told him that was my case and since it was
that I'm not sorry for it in the way that I "should be". He then
proceeded to keep saying "The bible says that........" I said Ok, fine
then why is killing justified in the bible? Whatever happened to
"THOU SHALT NOT KILL!" His response "Well you have to look at to who
the commandment was given to and.........." He kept feeding me line
after line, and it was getting sickening. Then I said fine, if there
are exceptions for "Thou Shalt Not Kill" why arent there some for the
other rules (fornication). All he could say is "Thats what the bible
says." So killing is ok people. As long as its in the name of God or in
self defense. Just throw out
"What so ever you do to the least of my
brothers, that is what you do unto me"- Jesus
"The greatest commandment is to love thy neighbor
as thyself"- Jesus
Just go ahead and forget those. As I leave, I leave you with something
I found in the bible that is very interesting, I believe it to be a
warning that God gave because he knew He was putting His word into the
hands of primitive people......
"I warn every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:
if any one adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described
in this book, 19 and if any one takes away from the words of the book
of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and
in the holy city, which are described in this book."
Kevin's note: Go to FARK, they've had a link to a 5-part series about the origins of the bible, if you're curious about that sort of thing.
